The problem

AI got smart. The interface didn't.

The model is no longer the bottleneck. The door is. Every interaction with the most capable intelligence ever built still starts the same way: unlock, find the app, look down, type. The intelligence is ambient. Getting to it is not.

Screen-first by default

Every request begins by looking down. Hands occupied, eyes captured, attention gone. For most of what people would actually ask, the cost of asking is higher than the answer is worth.

Ears sealed shut

Earbuds trade the room for the audio. You pick one: hear your assistant, or hear the world. Nobody wears them for sixteen hours, so nothing about them is always-on.

The replacement tax

The 2024 wave of AI devices asked people to abandon their phone, their apps and their assistant for a new closed ecosystem. The market answered clearly. That was not a hardware failure.

The bottleneck moved. It is no longer intelligence — it is access to it.

Two inputs. One output. Separated in hardware.

Most wearables run a single microphone and try to solve everything downstream in software. Sonique splits the jobs physically, so they never compete for the same signal. Tap a point to open it.

Bone conduction driver

Audio travels through the skull from a calibrated transducer. Audible to you, inaudible to the person standing next to you.

The ear canal stays open. Full awareness of the room with audio running — which is the only reason sixteen-hour wear is possible at all.

Structure

Built, not sketched.

A titanium lattice carries the structural load and pulls heat out of the module, while the skin-side membrane distributes pressure so the device can be worn for sixteen hours without a clamp, a hook or an adhesive.

Device on in two seconds. The day is briefed before he stands up. The phone never leaves the nightstand.

He whispers over running water. The bone mic hears him; the water does not exist to it. The device is sealed.

Weather, a reminder, a shopping list — created while both hands are busy and no surface is free.

A message arrives, gets answered, the calendar updates. The phone stays face-down on the counter.

Waze navigates through bone conduction. Ears open to traffic. Hands never leave the wheel.

Meeting agenda summarised in the elevator. Two taps switch the ambient mic on before he walks in.

Same Spotify. Same Waze. Same messages. Same assistant. He changed nothing — except that he never looked down.

Status

Pre-revenue. Not pre-work.

There is no working prototype yet. Bench validation of the dual-channel capture is the next milestone, and it is the milestone this round exists to fund. Everything below is done.
